Recently, I came across with a book by Kristin Neff, called Self Compassion.
This is a great book for me!
I have been using Self Compassion as a tool for a while, and it helped me to quiet my negative self talk.
I have a sister who is 2 years older than me.
She was taller, stronger, smarter, faster…what else? Ah, prettier one.
I’m sure she had her own complex but it doesn’t apply to me.
No matter whatever I do and however I do things, I couldn’t beat her.
And worst of all, she was always 2 years ahead of me!!!
Before I left home to an university, I developed my inferiority.
It popped out every time I felt or rather my ego felt that I was challenged.
But there’s always someone who does everything better than you, there’s no peace for me, until I came across with energy healing.
Until then, I wasn’t at all aware of my negative self talk!
I felt awful becoming aware of my own thoughts.
Now, thanks to my training, I’m super aware of my own thoughts and feelings, I can now make a conscious choice to keep criticising myself or something else.
I chose self compassion.
I can catch myself when an aspect of me who is very critical of myself surfaces, as another aspect of me begin to create emotions and sensations like anxiousness and sadness.
When I catch myself creating that feelings, I stop and tune into my thoughts carefully.
When I found Energy Healing, it helped me to be aware of my core belief and I released it.
But after that, I had to re-train my brain (so to speak) to be positive about me, which was a very strange thing for my brain which was so used to be critical about me.
Do you know the term called homeostasis?
It’s the human condition to maintain what is.
So naturally, it doesn’t like the change.
Whenever we try to choose something else, it pulls us back with warning.
Because it takes “change” as a danger.
Self compassion is a great tool, to retrain your brain to speak about self in a more loving way.
